Laser Therapy

Laser therapy helps with not only pain relief but healing as well. Dr. Bill Logan of the Logan Chiropractic Center in Warren, MI, is a chiropractor who can offer this non-invasive treatment as a part of holistic care. Laser therapy can help to reduce inflammation, allowing chiropractic adjustments to be performed more easily and hold better.

How the Treatment Works

Before our chiropractor recommends this treatment, you'll first undergo a thorough evaluation to understand your condition and ensure this is the right approach for you. Chiropractic considers the musculoskeletal system as a whole, so we want to determine if the area where you’re experiencing symptoms is the only one that needs to be treated.

Once we begin cold laser therapy, Dr. Logan will direct a handheld device that emits different wavelengths of low-level light energy. Our chiropractor will hold the instrument in place for a few minutes at each spot.

Your internal tissue in the area absorbs the light energy. What happens next isn't something you'll see or feel. The light energy causes blood vessels to dilate, increasing the amount of nutrients being delivered to an area, and prompts the cells to release more of their stored energy. As a result, you may heal faster and experience increased blood flow and less inflammation.

How it Feels

Some people hear the word "laser," and automatically think of an intense feeling of warmth during the treatment. This, however, is only true of ablative and high-intensity lasers. Laser therapy in Warren, MI, from Dr. Logan uses a "cold" or low-intensity laser; therefore, you don't feel that heat or any stinging or burning. In fact, most people feel little to nothing during the treatment. If you do feel any sensation, it may be a mild tingling or slight warmth.

Most people experience no side effects afterward. If you do have any side effects, they're usually mild, such as a slight warmth or tingling sensation. Though temporary, you may have some sensitivity or redness at the treatment site.

What We Use it For

Laser therapy is a versatile treatment we may recommend for acute or chronic issues, including, but not limited to, any of the following:

  • Tendinitis

The number and frequency of treatments will depend on your particular condition and its severity.
